What is a network?  
In the simplest terms, a computer network is a collection of computers that communicate with each other to allow the sharing of information and equipment.  Why would you want to do this?  Some of the possible reasons are as follows:

• Share files such as images, spreadsheets, data, and documents

• Play games that allow multiple users at different computers

• Send the output of a device like a CD ROM to your other computer(s)
